What is a Root Canal?
A root canal is a procedure in which we remove and repair damaged nerve tissue at the base of the tooth. We start by creating a small hole in the tooth to access the nerve, then remove infected nerve tissue and clean the area. We finish by filling the hole with a sealant.

When would I need a Root Canal?
If your nerve has been irreversibly damaged, a root canal may be right for you. This damage may have been caused by a fracture, decay, trauma, or infection. Instead of removing the tooth to get to the nerve, a root canal allows us to access and fix the problem while you keep your natural tooth.
What are the symptoms of needing a Root Canal?
- Prolonged toothache
- Swelling in the area
- Extreme sensitivity to hot or cold
- Painful biting
